Guthrie Lourdes Hospital Visitor Information
Guthrie Lourdes welcomes family and friends of our patients. We’ve provided the information below to help make your visit convenient and comfortable.
General visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Hours of visitation may be modified based on the circumstances of the individual patient's admission, condition or discharge planning. The patient's wishes will be considered.
Visitors wishing to remain with the patient outside of the defined visiting hours should contact the nursing unit and inquire about exceptions to the posted visiting hours.
There may be times when visiting hours are restricted by patient/ family request, the judgment of the healthcare provider or nurse, or when the visit would be detrimental to the patient's care or welfare.
There may also be times when the caregivers will have to ask visitors to step out during tests and treatments or for reasons of patient privacy.
Visiting Hours
Each patient has the right to determine who may and may not visit, including but not limited to a spouse, domestic partner, other family members or friends. Visitation and support are important in the healing process of our patients, but we also encourage rest to promote healing. It is essential for patients to receive necessary care and rest, and that caregivers be allowed to provide services efficiently. Therefore, the hospital provides guidelines for visiting patients.
Visitors are expected to comply with Lourdes policies while visiting our campus.
Please be aware of the following:
- Visitors must not interfere with the activities of the professional staff or hospital operations.
- Quiet should be maintained and visitors should not congregate in patient care areas.
- Visitors should not bring food to patients unless specially permitted to do so.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Non-Smoking Policy - Guthrie Lourdes is a smoke free environment. Smoking is prohibited on all property owned or leased by Guthrie Lourdes Hospital. Visitors must leave the property if they choose to smoke.
- Infection Control Policies and regulations - Visitors and other persons with respiratory diseases, or any sign of communicable infection, are not permitted to visit hospital patients. Visitors must wear proper attire and footwear. There may be times when visitors are required to wear protective clothing (gowns, gloves, etc.) to ensure their safety and the safety our patients.
- Weapons are prohibited - Under no circumstances are weapons allowed.
- Lourdes Hospital welcomes visitors of all ages, and we understand that children may want to visit loved ones during their stay. However, to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and young visitors, we have established the following guidelines:
- Supervision for Children 12 and Under: Children 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult, other than the patient themselves, throughout their visit
- Pre-Visit Consultation with Nursing Staff: Prior to bringing children under the age of 12 to visit a patient, parents or guardians are encouraged to consult with the nursing staff on the patient's unit. The nurses can provide guidance on whether visitation is appropriate and safe at that particular time.
- Considerations for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Due to the specific needs of patients in the ICU, visitation with children under 16 may not always be permitted. The nursing staff in the ICU will be able to advise on a case-by-case basis.
- Patients in Airborne Isolation: For the protection of vulnerable patients, visitors under the age of 16 are not permitted in rooms designated as Airborne Isolation.
- Isolation Precautions: It is generally recommended that visitors under 16 avoid visiting patients in any room with isolation precautions in place. These precautions are implemented to prevent the spread of certain illnesses.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these guidelines. They are in place to ensure a safe and positive experience for all our patients, visitors and staff.
Non-compliance with any of the visitor guidelines or other disruptive behavior will result in the visitor being asked to leave.
Designated Spokesperson
To better communicate with you, it is helpful to designate a spokesperson. The spokesperson will be the contact person for the staff to discuss the patient's condition, and in an emergency we will call the spokesperson who can then notify others. Calls for information about your loved one should be made by the spokesperson.
If possible, please avoid calling between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., as this is the time for change of shift report on your loved one. Our nurses will be busy caring for your loved one, and by having the spokesperson call and then communicate with others, allows more time for our nurses to care for our patients.

All cafeteria waste, including food waste, packaging, aluminum cans, and bottles, are placed on a conveyor belt/tray line that leads to the wash area of the kitchen.
